Wood K plus - Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH
Axel Solt-Rindler is a seasoned project manager and senior researcher at Wood K plus - Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH since February 2015, leading various research projects in collaboration with industry and academic partners. As a co-founder of vonSisu since September 2021, Axel also serves as a lecturer at Universität für Bodenkultur Wien until July 2024. Previous roles include junior researcher at Fachhochschule Salzburg, focusing on improving the fire safety of wood-based panels, and internships in engineering and veneer production at M. Kaindl OG and JAF International Services. Axel holds a Ph.D. in Wood Science and Wood Products from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, and a Diplom-Ingenieur from Fachhochschule Salzburg, complemented by studies at the University of Limerick.

We are a leading research organisation in the area wood and wood-related renewable resources in Europe. Our core competences are materials research and process technology along the complete value chain – from raw material to finished products. We develop methods and basics and perform applied research on the economy-science interface, in order to enable resource-efficient management in the circular bioeconomy. As COMET K1-Center of the COMET Programme – Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies - we are funded by the Austrian ministries BMK, BMAW and the federal states UpperAusria, LowerAustria & Carinthia. The programme COMET is operated by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
