Jon Gorrie

Principal Analyst, Subsurface Research, CCUS & New Energies at Wood Mackenzie

Jon Gorrie has a diverse and extensive work experience in the energy industry. Jon worked at Wood Mackenzie as a Principal Analyst, focusing on Subsurface Research, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), and New Energies. Prior to this role, they held the position of Principal Analyst, specializing in Upstream Unconventional Plays.

Before joining Wood Mackenzie, Jon had a long tenure at Husky Energy, where they held various roles. Jon started as a Co-op Student in the Midstream & New Ventures division. Jon then worked as an Exploitation Engineer, responsible for a diverse suite of assets and overseeing production, reserves, operations planning, and joint venture (JV) activities. Later, they transitioned to the role of Business Development Specialist, which involved strategic transactions, executive communications, and developing relationships with external parties. Jon'sexperience also includes working in the Investor Relations department. Before these roles, Jon gained hands-on exposure to Gas Plant operations as part of an operations shift crew.

Jon also had significant involvement with Alberta Sulphur Research Ltd. Jon served as the President and Chairman of the Board for this global energy industry-sponsored non-profit research consortium. In this role, their focus was on determining the fundamental chemistry underlying industry issues and developing new technologies for future use. Additionally, they served as a Director and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee.

Early in their career, Jon worked as a Co-op Student at Husky Energy and Talisman Energy, gaining valuable experience in central operations and exploration in the Edson area, respectively.

Jon Gorrie completed their Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina in 2004.
