Matthew Palanza is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in both oceanographic and construction fields. Currently serving as the OOI Lead Systems Engineer and CGSN Electrical Engineering Lead at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution since April 2014, Matthew has also been the Owner of Thalassa Engineering, which provides engineering and integration solutions for the oceanographic community, since June 2013. Previous roles include Electrical Engineer at Bluefin Robotics, where Matthew was the Technical/System Lead on a 6,000m AUV/UUV, and Engineer II at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, responsible for system hardware/software/firmware architecture. Earlier experience includes engineering roles at Webb Research Corporation, project management positions at Cambridge Builders Trust and Start to Finish, Inc., and independent contracting with Palanza Construction. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
