Peter Furey

Peter Furey is a highly experienced software engineer specializing in control and communications software for the marine robotics industry. Currently serving as a Consulting Software Engineer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Peter develops Robot Operating System (ROS) nodes for the Office of Naval Research Cognitive Router Project. With a career spanning several decades, Peter has worked with notable organizations such as Seascan, Bluefin Robotics, and Teledyne Webb Research, focusing on autonomous underwater vehicles and embedded software. Peter holds an M.S. in Physical Oceanography from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Graduate Certificate in Computer Systems from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, alongside a B.S. in Pure and Applied Mathematics from UMass Boston.
