Principal Systems Administrator at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

Rich B. has a diverse work experience in the field of IT and systems administration. Rich started their career as a Technical Support Specialist I at The Jackson Laboratory in 2002 and progressed to become a Technical Support Specialist II, focusing on desktop support and system imaging. From 2009 to 2017, they served as a Systems Administrator at the same company, responsible for research systems, HPC clusters, and virtualization infrastructure. In 2017, Rich took a break to hike the Appalachian Trail and then joined The Jackson Laboratory again as a Systems Engineer, Research IT. Currently, they are working as a Principal Systems Administrator at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution since 2020.

Rich B. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies/Biology from the University of Maine, where they attended from 1995 to 2000. Rich also holds various certifications, including Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, HDI Desktop Support Technician, Isilon Certified Storage Professional, and Red Hat Certified System Administrator.
