Shawn Nikkila is an experienced software engineer with expertise in various industries. Shawn started their career as a Lab Assistant at Professional Service Industries, Inc. in 2005. Later, they worked as a Software Engineer Intern at General Dynamics C4 Systems in 2008, and then as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Arizona State University from 2005 to 2008, where they worked on bioinformatics projects. In 2007, they returned to General Dynamics C4 Systems as a Software Engineer Intern, where they contributed to a software integration and test team.
In 2010, Shawn worked as a Microsoft Research Intern for a few months. Shawn then joined Arizona State University again in 2008 as a Graduate Research Assistant, focusing on human-computer interaction research at the AME Reflective Living lab. During this time, they also served as an Instructor from 2012 to 2013.
From 2014 to 2018, Shawn worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Intel Corporation, specializing in mobile application development for wearable products. Shawn played a significant role in the development of the Oakley Radar Pace product, incorporating text-to-speech and speech recognition technologies.
In 2018, Shawn joined Logitech as a Senior Software Engineer + Developer Advocate, contributing to the development of desktop and Android applications for Logitech's video conferencing solutions. Shawn was responsible for the architecture and implementation of a bundled service in the Sync desktop application.
Currently, Shawn Nikkila is employed at Wordly, Inc since 2020, serving as a Software Architect.
Shawn Nikkila completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science with Arts, Media, and Engineering from Arizona State University. The program lasted until 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Science from the same university, completing the program between 2004 and 2008.
