Work Sync is an interactive career guidance platform that helps students discover what genuinely interests and motivates them.

Founded by researcher and social impact practitioner Dr Cheryl Sykes, Work Sync was created in response to a challenge observed throughout years of work across employment services, workforce participation, education and career development: young people are often expected to make important decisions about their future before they've had the opportunity to meaningfully explore the world of work or understand what genuinely interests them.

Built on principles of motivational psychology and vocational interest research, Work Sync takes an interest-first approach to career exploration. Through a simple, visual and student-led experience, students engage with real work activities, identify patterns in what captures their attention and curiosity, and build a clearer understanding of where those interests may lead.

Unlike traditional career assessments, Work Sync focuses on discovery through interaction. We believe better engagement for all students is achieved through inclusive design, which is why accessibility, usability and student engagement sit at the heart of the platform.

Mapped to more than 1,400 Australian occupations and pathways, Work Sync helps students connect their interests to real-world opportunities while creating a shared language for meaningful career conversations between students, educators, families and mentors.
