Boris Maguire

Boris Maguire has a diverse work experience ranging from executive leadership roles to consultancy and program management positions. Boris started their most recent role as a Vice President of Operations at Workpay in 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Managing Director in Kenya for Orb Energy from 2021 to 2022.

Boris spent a significant portion of their career at Echo Mobile, where they held various roles. Boris began as a Deployment Project Manager, handling mobile technology projects for organizations such as UNICEF and multinational corporations across multiple countries. Boris then transitioned to become the Head of Deployment, where they led a professional services business unit and expanded the company's customer base to include commercial sector clients.

Later, Boris took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Echo Mobile, leading the company's commercial strategy, operations, and finance. Boris successfully shifted the company's revenue model towards a scalable and profitable software-as-a-service (SaaS) approach, focusing on product-driven customer success.

Boris also worked at Cardno Emerging Markets as a Market Development Consultant, assessing opportunities and feasibility of mobile-enabled solutions for agriculture businesses in East Timor.

Boris has experience in the development sector as well, having served as an Innovations Fellow at DAI, where they provided business advisory services and facilitated partnerships for local entrepreneurs in Cambodia. Furthermore, they served as a Growth Consultant at mWater, a social enterprise focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene, conducting product/market fit assessments and human-centered design research in Mexico.

Earlier in their career, Boris worked as a Communications and Production Associate at America Abroad Media, coordinating a partnership initiative with media corporations in Pakistan. Boris also worked as a Clerk for the Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs in the U.S. House of Representatives, and interned in the Office of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter.

Later, they pursued higher education at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where they received a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in Development Practice. Boris Maguire attended SIPA from 2013 to 2015.
