Sharon Davis, LPC, LMFT, NCC, CCMHC is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Oklahoma, a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist in Oklahoma and a National Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over 40 years of experience in private practice and hospital settings. Sharon delivers a wealth of knowledge and experience in grief recovery to the WPH Advisory Board.
Sharon’s passion for helping people navigate death and the grieving process began in the early 1980s when she helped establish the Chisholm Trail Hospice in Duncan, OK. At the time, hospice was a new concept in the U.S. The need for work-based healing programs became evident as people she counseled continued to work while caring for a dying loved one or while grieving the loss of someone they cared about. Employees would sometimes find it necessary to seek short-term disability or arrange for time off without pay in order to effectively grieve. When Sharon’s nine-year old niece died from leukemia, she saw firsthand the struggles her family went through with little support.
An active member of the community, Sharon volunteered for 15 years as a group facilitator, providing support for people with terminal illness and their families, including bereavement support.
Sharon received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia. Sharon also served a three-year term on the Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselor Board.
