Mark Pizey

Chief Inspector Of Mines at WorkSafe New Zealand

Mark Pizey has extensive work experience in the mining and energy industry. Mark served as the Chief Inspector of Mines at WorkSafe New Zealand from 2016. Prior to that, they were the General Manager: Environment at Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd, starting in 2010. From 2000, they held multiple roles at Solid Energy New Zealand, including Manager for the Pike River Re-Entry Project and General Manager for Environment, Health, and Safety. Earlier in their career, they were the General Manager of the Coal Division at DML from 1985 to 1986.

Mark Pizey completed their Masters of Professional Studies in Environmental Management from Lincoln University (NZ) from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, they pursued an MSc in Rock Mechanics and Excavation Engineering from Newcastle University, from 1980 to 1981.
