Mary Beth Maxwell is an experienced leader in workers' rights and policy advocacy, currently serving as the Executive Director of Workshop Catalyzing Change for Workers Rights since October 2023. Previously, Maxwell held the position of Special Advisor at Open Society Foundations from June 2020 to November 2023 and worked as a consultant and strategist focusing on the future of work, labor policy, LGBT, and civil rights from September 2018 to July 2019. With a strong background at the Human Rights Campaign as Senior Vice President for Programs, Research, and Training from October 2015 to August 2018, Maxwell also contributed extensively to the U.S. Department of Labor in various roles from April 2009 to October 2015, including Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy. Prior to that, Maxwell was Executive Director of American Rights at Work from August 2003 to April 2009 and National Field Director at Jobs With Justice from May 1996 to July 2003. Maxwell holds dual Bachelor's degrees in English, Philosophy, and Political Science from Marquette University.
