René Bouchard

Advisor, Government Relations at World Anti-Doping Agency

Effective September 2016, René Bouchard joined WADA as Advisor, Government Relations.

Prior to joining WADA, René was engaged in external roles with the Agency. He was Canada’s representative on the Agency’s Executive Committee and Foundation Board; and delegate of the Canadian Minister of Sport. René was also Chair of WADA’s Education Committee; WADA’s Independent Observer Mission for the London 2012 Olympic Games; and, the founding Chair of the Agency’s Compliance Review Committee (CRC).

Prior to joining WADA, René held various roles with the Canadian Government, including Director General of International Affairs with the Department of Canadian Heritage, which oversees Canadian Culture and Sports. He was Director General of Copyright Policy and Legislation, and later, Director General of Broadcasting Policy and Legislation. He began his career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

René has a bachelor’s degree in economic sciences from the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa (Canada).
