Sébastien Gillot

Director, Europe at World Anti-Doping Agency

Sebastien Gillot is the current Director of Europe at the World Anti-Doping Agency. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Communications for the Union Cycliste Internationale from January 2014 to July 2018. During their time with the UCI, Sebastien was able to successfully transform the organization's reputation with media through an open and transparent approach. Sébastien also managed complex potential reputational risks, such as the publication of the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organizations (iNADO) and Cycling Independent Reform Commission (CIRC) reports, and other anti-doping and legal issues. In addition, Sebastien led the full rebranding of the UCI, which included the implementation of a consistent identity across all events and applications.

Sebastien has also been instrumental in developing the UCI's digital presence, including rebuilding its website and increasing its social media following from 100,000 to 2.5 million followers. Sébastien has advised senior management on various challenges and emerging issues, developed key messages, and provided media training. Sebastien has also recruited, managed, and developed an extended communications team; proactively engaged with Continental Confederations, National Federations, and other key international stakeholders; and developed joint communications opportunities.

In their current role with the World Anti-Doping Agency, Sebastien is responsible for leading WADA's communications activities in Europe. Sébastien collaborates with WADA's partners to develop outreach programmes that raise awareness about doping in sport and promote clean athletes.

Sébastien Gillot has a Master's degree in Communications & Journalism from ISCPA - Institut Supérieur des Médias and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from ICS Bégué, école de finance, gestion et expertise comptable.

They are on a team with Kevin Haynes - Associate Director, Compliance, Rules & Standards, Marc-André Matton - CTO, and Julien Sieveking - Director, Legal Affairs. Sébastien Gillot reports to Witold Bańka, President.
