Janine Ferretti

Janine Ferretti is currently the VP, Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman at the World Bank. Janine has over 25 years of experience working in environmental and social risk management, climate change and sustainability.

Ferretti started their career as the Executive Director of Pollution Probe, a Canadian environmental organization, where they worked for three years. Janine then became the Executive Director of the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation, a tri-national organization created to address environmental issues in North America. Janine held this position for nine years.

In 2003, Ferretti joined the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as Chief of the Environment and Social Safeguards Unit. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the Bank's environmental and social risk management policies and procedures. Janine also led the development of the IDB's climate change and sustainability strategy. Ferretti left the IDB in June 2019 to join the World Bank Group as Compliance Advisor Ombudsman.

Janine Ferretti has a MES from York University and a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

They work with Junaid Kamal Ahmad - VP, Operations, Merli Margaret Baroudi - Director, Economics & Sustainability, and Aradhana Kumar-Capoor - Director & General Counsel, Legal Affairs & Claims. Janine Ferretti reports to Hiroshi Matano, EVP, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
