Wolfgang Fengler

Wolfgang Fengler is the Chief Executive Officer at World Data Lab, a position held since June 2023. Previously, Wolfgang Fengler served at The World Bank for over two decades, taking on roles such as Lead Economist and Sector Leader for Southern Africa, Country Sector Leader, and Senior Economist, where responsibilities included managing the economic team, overseeing lending operations, and producing flagship reports. Prior experience also includes founding and leading Africa Consulting, GmBH from July 1998 to January 2000, delivering critical reports to clients including The World Bank. Wolfgang Fengler holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Economy from the University of Hamburg and a Master's degree from the University of Augsburg.
