Head Of Economic Growth And Transformation at World Economic Forum

Aengus Collins has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Aengus currently holds the position of Head of Economic Growth and Transformation at the World Economic Forum, a role they assumed in August 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Event Editorial at the same company from September 2021 to August 2022.

Before their time at the World Economic Forum, Aengus worked at the EPFL International Risk Governance Center. From May 2019 to August 2021, they held the position of Deputy Director and Head of Policy.

Aengus also has experience with the World Economic Forum in a previous role. From March 2018 to May 2019, they served as the Head of Global Risks and the Geopolitical Agenda. Prior to this, they worked as the Practice Lead for Global Risks from October 2016 to March 2018.

In their earlier career, Aengus gained valuable experience as the Country Forecast Director and Lead Euro Zone Analyst at The Economist Intelligence Unit (The EIU) from October 2013 to October 2016.

Before joining The EIU, Aengus worked as a freelance political and economic analyst for various clients, including The Economist Intelligence Unit. Their responsibilities included analyzing and providing forecasts of political and economic developments in the UK, Turkey, and Ireland. Aengus closely monitored shifts in political stability and government effectiveness and examined the impact of EU developments and global financial markets, particularly the euro zone crisis and the banking sector's effects on sovereign debt crises. This freelance role lasted from 2000 to October 2013.

Additionally, Aengus worked as an arts and culture journalist for various clients from 2003 to December 2012, and as an editorial consultant for HM Revenue & Customs from 2007 to 2009.

Earlier in their career, Aengus held roles such as commissioning editor at Atom, sub-editor at Chambers & Partners, and served as the Entertainment and Services Officer (elected position) at Trinity College Dublin.

Aengus Collins obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts from Trinity College Dublin in the years 1991 to 1995. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Continental Philosophy at University College Dublin from 1996 to 1997. Aengus then completed a Master of Economic Science degree in European Economic and Public Affairs at University College Dublin from 1997 to 1999. Lastly, Aengus Collins attended The London School of Economics and Political Science from 2000 to 2002 to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Political Theory.
