Denys Saltanov

Head Of Quality Assurance, Aviation at World Food Programme

Denys Saltanov is a seasoned aviation professional currently serving as the Chief Air Transport Officer at the UN World Food Programme (WFP) since July 2024, previously holding the position of Head of Quality Assurance, Aviation at WFP from July 2017. Prior experience includes a role as Deputy Chief Aviation Officer at UNHAS Nairobi from July 2015 to July 2017, and earlier at WFP in the same capacity from May 2009 to June 2015. Denys has successfully managed the United Nations Humanitarian Service fleet in Sudan, overseeing supply chain control, operational and safety performance, as well as partnership development. Denys also served as Project Manager at Ukrainian Helicopters from May 2004 to May 2009, leading various United Nations-related projects in challenging environments such as Sudan, Haiti, and Nigeria. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University (2012-2015) and a Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from National Aviation University in Kiev, Ukraine (1998-2004).
