Ahmad Abou Tayoun, PhD, FACMG, currently serves as a Technical Advisor on Genomics for the World Health Organization since September 2023. Simultaneously, Ahmad holds the position of Director of Genomic Diagnostics and Head of the Research Department at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital since May 2018, and functions as an Associate Professor of Genetics at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences since January 2020. Ahmad previously held roles as an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and as Director of the Division of Genomic Diagnostics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from July 2015 to May 2018. Academic qualifications include a Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellowship from Harvard Medical School, a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Molecular Diagnostics from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and a PhD in Genetics from Dartmouth College, along with a Master of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the American University of Beirut.
