Maria Neira

Director, Environment, Climate Change And Health at World Health Organization

Maria Neira is a highly experienced public health professional with significant leadership roles at the World Health Organization, where positions include Director of Environment, Climate Change and Health, and Director of the Department of Prevention, Control and Eradication of Communicable Diseases. Additionally, Maria Neira served as Under-Secretary of Health and President of the Spanish Food Safety Agency at the Ministerio de Sanidad. Maria Neira has also contributed as a Medical Coordinator for the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Maputo and was the Coordinator of the Global Task Force on Cholera Control. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad de Oviedo and a Master's degree in Public Health from Université Paris Cité.
