Mohammad Taufiq MASHAL is a seasoned public health expert with extensive experience in technical support and management roles within health systems. Currently serving as a Senior Technical Officer in Regional Planning at the World Health Organization since May 2015, MASHAL provides critical support to the Polio Eradication and Emergency Support teams in Egypt and Libya. Prior to this role, MASHAL held the position of Director General for Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Public Health, overseeing multiple units and contributing to policy and strategic development from October 2008 to May 2015. MASHAL also directed Afghanistan's primary health care system, emphasizing community involvement and effective resource mobilization, and previously served as the National EPI Manager, where vital policies and operational plans for immunization were formulated. MASHAL holds a Ph.D. in International Health Development from Tokyo Medical and Dental University and an MD from Kabul Medical University.
