Paul Garwood

Paul Garwood serves as the Head of the Leadership and Internal Communications Unit at the World Health Organization, a position held since June 2014, with prior roles including Acting Unit Head and Communications Officer. Experience includes directing communications at Green Cross International, where major initiatives were developed for the organization's 20th anniversary, and various communications roles at WHO focusing on health crises and noncommunicable diseases. Additional past positions include Press Officer at the World Meteorological Organization and Correspondent for the Associated Press in Middle Eastern and South Asian regions. Paul Garwood also has a background in journalism with the Sunday Sun, Al-Ahram Weekly, and the Newcastle Herald, alongside media advisement for the South Australian Government. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Leading Innovation and Change from York St John University and a journalism cadetship from the Newcastle Herald.
