Vicky Shum is a Partner at World Innovation Lab, where they oversee Operations and Marketing. Vicky has extensive experience in product management and marketing, having served in senior positions at Sling Media, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Xfire/ Ultimate Arena.
Shum began their career in 2004 as a Business Development Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America. In this role, they negotiated and closed distribution deals with retailers for Sony’s PlayStation 2 console. Vicky also created and executed marketing campaigns to promote Sony’s gaming products.
In 2006, Shum joined Sling Media as the Global Head of Product for the Retail division. In this role, they were responsible for managing the product line for Sling’s retail business, which included the Slingbox hardware and software applications for PC/Mac, iOS/Android devices, and connected TV platforms. Shum also led the team that negotiated and closed deals with mobile operators and device OEMs. Under their leadership, the Retail division grew to become one of the company’s most successful businesses.
In 2013, Shum left Sling Media to join Tandem Capital as an Entrepreneur In Residence. In this role, they advised portfolio companies on product development, including Tile and other IoT products.
Most recently, Shum has been working as an advisor to Travelstride, a marketplace for tour, cruise, and adventure packages. Vicky has been advising the company on product development and marketing strategies.
Vicky Shum has a MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Business Administration and English Literature from University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
