Johan Stander, Ph.D., currently serves as the Director at the World Meteorological Organization since August 2020. Prior to this role, Johan worked as an Environmental Scientist and Marine Principal Consultant at a private company from November 2019 to July 2020. From March 2012 to November 2019, Johan held the position of Co-President at JCOMM, and has an extensive tenure at the South African Weather Service as a Senior Manager in the Marine division from December 1982 to October 2019. Johan Stander earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Estuary Flooding from the University of Cape Town between 2018 and 2020 and holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Technology.
