Melanie Robinson currently serves as the Global Climate Program Director at the World Resources Institute since September 2023. Prior to this role, Melanie was the UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from January 2019 to September 2023. Melanie's experience includes serving as an Executive Director at the World Bank Group from August 2015 to November 2018, where engagement involved representing the UK on the Board and overseeing substantial annual lending for poverty reduction. Earlier roles with the Department for International Development included Country Director for DFID Ethiopia, leading a significant bilateral program, Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, and Team Leader for Climate Change Adaptation. Melanie has also held the position of Head of International Climate Change Policy at the Department for Energy and Climate Change, focusing on strategic negotiations and climate finance. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History from the University of Oxford and a Master of Philosophy in International Development from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University.
