Birgit Viohl is an experienced professional in trade facilitation and policy, currently serving as Head of the Trade Facilitation Agreement Facility at the World Trade Organization since September 2023. Previously, Viohl worked as a trade facilitation advisor for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, contributing to national trade facilitation committees in Central Asia, and held various roles including Trade Policy and Trade Facilitation Expert as a consultant. Viohl coordinated the Trade Procedures Facilitation Domain at UN/CEFACT and has experience with organizations such as Dalberg, UNECE, GOPA Consultants, and the International Trade Centre. Viohl's educational background includes a Diplom in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin, a Certificate in International Political Economy from The London School of Economics, and a D.E.U.G. in History from Université Bordeaux III.
