Joo Eun Lee has gained a diverse range of work experience in the field of communications and human rights. Starting in 2015, they interned at the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights, followed by an internship at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN in 2016. In the same year, they also served as an interpreter at the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy. In 2018, Joo Eun worked as a Capstone Project Researcher at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN. They then became the President of Liberty in North Korea in 2016-2017, where they led executive and general body meetings and coordinated events. In 2019, Joo Eun interned again at the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights, focusing on research and global communications. In 2020, they had an internship at the United Nations Office at Geneva, specifically in the field of cultural diplomacy and communications. Currently, Joo Eun is working as a Junior Communications Officer at the World Trade Organization, where they previously held roles as a Press and Social Media Assistant and as a Communications & Social Media Intern.
Joo Eun Lee attended Garrison Forest School from 2008 to 2013 for their primary education. Joo Eun then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree at Smith College from 2013 to 2017, with a concentration in Government (International Politics) and Spanish. In 2014, they also had a brief study experience at The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University. Later, from 2017 to 2019, Joo Eun completed their Master in International Affairs degree at the Geneva Graduate Institute.
