Maika Oshikawa

Director, Accessions Division at World Trade Organization

Maika Oshikawa currently serves as the Director of the Accessions Division at the World Trade Organization since 2018, where responsibilities include overseeing accession negotiations, leading outreach activities, and fostering partnerships with organizations assisting governments in their application to join the WTO. Prior experience at the WTO includes roles as Counsellor in the Accessions Division, where Maika managed the accession negotiations for Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, and as Head of the Asia and Pacific Region for the Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation, focusing on training and technical assistance for members in that region. Maika's background also includes work in the LDC Unit, Technical Cooperation Division, and several divisions related to trade policy and economic research. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Development Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a DES in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
