Alejandro Pérez

Alejandro Pérez is the Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs at WWF. He previously served as Special Assistant to California Attorney General Xavier Becerra. Mr. Pérez performs the duties of Director of Federal Affairs in Washington, D.C. where he monitored federal policy and developed and executed strategies to advance and protect the California Department of Justice’s policy priorities. Prior to joining Attorney General Becerra, Mr. Pérez served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and House Liaison from 2014 to 2017.

As the primary liaison to the House of Representatives, he planned and implemented comprehensive strategies to advance Administration priorities and offered strategic guidance to inform the Administration’s posture on all major issue areas. Prior to his appointment as Deputy, Mr. Pérez served for over four years as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where he functioned as liaison to the Ways and Means and the Education and Workforce Committees, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and over 80 Democratic and Republican Members of Congress.

Prior to joining the Obama White House, Mr. Pérez worked in Congress for over ten years, including six years as senior Leadership staff. In Congress, Mr. Pérez served for six years as senior advisor to the House Majority Leader, Steny H. Hoyer and performed as Floor Director, Deputy Floor Director and Floor Assistant starting in 2003. During his tenure, Mr. Pérez assisted the House Leadership in setting, coordinating, and implementing the House’s legislative agenda, led in the analysis and review of all proposals for the House, and worked with Leadership and committee staff to ensure broad Democratic support for these initiatives. Prior to becoming Leadership staff, Mr. Pérez was part of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus staff for over four years, where he served as Executive Director and Legislative Assistant. Mr. Pérez assisted the Chair in formulating priorities for 18 Hispanic Members of Congress and developed and implemented strategies to achieve the Caucus’ legislative goals.

Alejandro Pérez previously worked for Catholic Charities, Immigration Counseling Services in Dallas, Texas, the Austin-Travis County Office of Refugee Services, and the United Farm Workers in Austin, Texas. Mr. Pérez holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
