Carey Winn Benham

CAREY WINN BENHAM has a long history of giving back to the community. She currently serves on the board of the Kiawah Conservancy, a land trust, located on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Currently holding and managing over 2,273 acres of valuable wildlife habitat, the conservancy implements programs to encourage and assist landowners in the protection of the island’s natural environment. Benham’s previous board service includes the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University, the Atlanta Ballet, the Ovarian Cancer Institute, and the High Museum of Art, including chairing board committees of each organization. She is a long-time supporter of the Sierra Club, Oceana, and World Wildlife Fund. Benham is a Georgia native who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a BA in philosophy, and completed her graduate course work in art history at Emory University. Her professional career includes experience as an art consultant, curating art exhibitions, and acquiring, displaying, and installing corporate art collections. She later formed Encore Décor, which provided consulting services in art and design in residential and corporate settings.
