Demetra Moshonas has a diverse work history spanning several industries. Demetra started their career as a DNA Forensic Scientist in the Biology Department of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Demetra then transitioned to the healthcare field, working as a Registered Respiratory Therapist/Researcher at the Montreal Children's Hospital and as an Assistant Chief of Physiology/Clinical Research Coordinator at the Montreal Chest Hospital. In 2004, they joined Medtronic, where they held various roles in medical safety and clinical research. During their time at Medtronic, Demetra managed staff responsible for reviewing and reporting complaints, developed programs to assess and monitor patient safety, and implemented regulatory tools. In 2014, they joined HeartWare Inc as an Associate Director of Medical Safety, overseeing the development and management of safety programs worldwide.
Demetra Moshonas completed their Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory and Anesthesia at Vanier College from 1985 to 1988. Demetra then pursued their education at McGill University, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology from 1993 to 1996. Continuing their studies at McGill, Demetra earned a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from 1996 to 1998.
