Senior Software Engineer at Worldsensing

Daniel Díaz Benito has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Daniel is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Worldsensing, where they are involved in developing an IoT solution for monitoring critical infrastructure using LoRa connected sensors. Daniel is responsible for developing innovative features within the framework of EU funded projects.

Prior to their current role, Daniel worked at Ledmotive as a Lead Software Engineer. In this role, they managed the Cloud infrastructure and servers, while also providing technical support and maintaining the codebase of the company's products. Daniel also played a key role in the commissioning of installations at hospitals and control rooms.

Before Ledmotive, Daniel worked as a Senior Software Engineer at the same company. Daniel assisted in bringing multispectral LED prototypes to production and took ownership of the LIGHT HUB product. Daniel mentored researchers and assistant engineers on software development and design patterns.

Daniel also gained experience as a Software Projects Engineer at IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya. Here, they assisted the Director of the Lighting Group in developing spectrally aware lighting software and managed a software tender for an EU funded project.

In addition, Daniel worked as a Geoinformatics Engineer at CREAF, where they were involved in GIS software and web tool development, support for EU funded projects, and research. Daniel also worked on MiraMon Desktop developments involving Thiessen polygons, Delaunay triangulation, and TIN layers generation.

Daniel's career started as a Master's Student at the University of Twente, where they conducted research on LiDAR point cloud processing. Prior to that, they worked as an Environmental and Mobility Consultant at DOYMO, where they conducted territorial analysis and environmental assessments. Daniel also performed GIS data maintenance and internal GIS assessments.

Daniel's earliest work experience was as a Town Planning Assistant at Ajuntament de Parets del Vallès, where they worked in town planning from 2005 to 2007.

Daniel Díaz Benito started their education journey at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2001 to 2005. Following their undergraduate studies, they went on to the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, where they earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Geoinformatics from 2010 to 2012.
