Chief Gemological Officer at Worthy

Roy Albers has held a variety of positions in the jewelry industry since 1989. Roy began their career at Tiffany & Co. as Vice President Gemstone Acquisitions and Chief Gemologist, where they created a consolidated diamond, gemstones, and pearl purchasing department and managed all gemstone inventory and WIP. Roy was also the gemstone spokesperson for the company, meeting with international high value clients. In 1993, they joined the Board of Directors at AGTA. From 1996 to 1999, they were Managing Director NY at SwaroGem, where they implemented and operated the New York Genuine Gem Division of Swarovski and trained an international sales team. Roy then joined Adornis.com as Vice President Operations, where they recruited and trained a 30-employee staff for company operations, inventory, and security. In 2001, they became Senior Buyer Diamonds, Precious Gemstones at QVC, where they purchased and developed exquisite pieces in the diamond/precious gem set category, originated, developed, and merchandised the highly successful “Affinity” diamond brand, and researched market trends. Roy then moved to Slane & Slane in 2004 as Sr. Vice President Operations, where they effectively managed daily business operations, directed production, purchasing, QC, product information, shipping, and accounts receivable, and spearheaded the development and design process from concept through production. In 2008, they joined MESKO Associates LLC as Vice President, and in 2010 they became Vice President Jewelry Creation & Logistics at Gemvara. Roy currently serves as Chief Gemological Officer at Worthy.com, an online luxury auction for diamonds, watches, rings, gemstones, and more.

Roy Albers attended Cornwall Central High School from 1970 to 1974 and obtained their High School degree. Roy then attended GIA (Gemological Institute of America) from 1975 to 1975 and obtained their Graduate Gemologist degree in Diamonds and Gemstones. In 1976, they obtained their Graduate Gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America.
