Christian Potthast

Senior Manager, Research Engineering, Perception at Woven Planet Holdings

Christian Potthast has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Christian is currently a Senior Manager at Woven Planet, leading the Core Perception team in the Autonomous Driving Perception group. Prior to this, they were a Manager at Woven Planet, leading multiple teams in the same group.

Before joining Woven Planet, Christian worked at Toyota Research Institute as a Manager and Tech Lead in the Perception department. Christian also held a role as a Senior Software Engineer at Faraday Future.

Christian's academic background includes a role as a Doctoral Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where they conducted research for their Ph.D. Christian has also worked as a Research Engineer Intern at TOYOTA InfoTechnology Center, U.S.A. and as a Research Engineer at Google Summer of Code.

Additionally, Christian has gained research experience as a Research Intern at Willow Garage, a Research Scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Visiting Researcher at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics. Christian also served as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the Technical University of Munich.

Christian Potthast completed their education in the field of Computer Science. Christian started their academic journey in 2003 at The University of Freiburg, where they pursued a Pre-Diplom degree until 2006. Following this, they attended the Technical University of Munich from 2006 to 2009, earning a Diplom degree. Continuing their studies, Potthast enrolled at the University of Southern California in 2009, completing both a Master's Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science in 2016.
