Engineering Manager Functional Safety at Woven Planet Holdings

Islam Babaev has a strong background in functional safety engineering and reliability analysis. Islam most recently worked as an Engineering Manager at Woven by Toyota, where they led a team of functional safety engineers and conducted corporate training on functional safety. Prior to that, they were a Senior Functional Safety Engineer at Lyft, where they focused on improving the safety system for autonomous vehicles. Islam also has experience in managing functional safety teams and defining safety strategies at companies such as ARRIVAL and RoboCV. Islam began their career in reliability engineering, working at organizations such as the Radiophysics Research Institute and the Scientific Research Institute for Long-Range Radiocommunications. Islam is highly skilled in HARA, risk assessment, safety requirements design, safety verification, and fault tree analysis. Islam is also certified as a Functional Safety Engineer by TUV Rheinland.

Islam Babaev earned a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Bauman Moscow State Technical University from 2006 to 2010. Islam then pursued a Master's degree in the same field from the same university, completing it between 2010 and 2012. Following this, Islam Babaev obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Systems and Data Analysis from Bauman Moscow State Technical University from 2012 to 2018. In terms of additional certifications, they received the Functional Safety Engineer certification from TÜV Rheinland Group in 2016. Moreover, they earned honors in two Bayesian Statistics courses from Coursera: "Bayesian Statistics: Techniques and Models" in August 2023 and "Bayesian Statistics: From Concept to Data Analysis" in January 2023.
