Mário Freitas

Technical Lead & Engineering Manager, Arene at Woven Planet Holdings

Mário Freitas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2007, they worked as a Student Programmer at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. Mário also served as a Part-Time Developer at JuniFEUP, where they developed an interactive CD using Flash animation.

In 2009, Mário joined Fourteenforty Research Institute, Inc. as a Security Software Engineer and Researcher. Mário was responsible for developing a VM-based URL blacklist crawling system, Anti-Virus software, and various protection mechanisms. Mário also developed network protocol/file fuzzing software for vulnerability detection.

From 2011 to 2017, Mário worked at CyberAgent as a Team Lead Engineer. During their tenure, they developed a video/audio transcoding platform, a distributed messaging platform for multiplayer games, and native libraries for Unity3D.

In 2017, Mário joined Amazon as a Software Development Engineer. Mário supported global teams in launching sub-same day delivery experiences worldwide and worked on supply chain optimization. Mário also took ownership of the CoE Program, improving visibility and tracking of SLAs.

Most recently, Mário worked at Woven by Toyota as a Technical Lead & Engineering Manager for the Arene project. Mário was responsible for the development of Arene's in-vehicle data collection platform and submission of automotive software patents. Mário also focused on process improvement, adoption of standards, and improving system architecture using various tools and languages.

Throughout their career, Mário has demonstrated expertise in programming languages such as C++, Rust, Golang, and Unity3D. Mário has also worked with cloud platforms like GCP and AWS.

Mário Freitas pursued their education at the Colégio de Gaia from 2000 to 2003. However, there is no information available regarding the degree or field of study during this time. Subsequently, they attended the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto from 2003 to 2008. During this period, they obtained a Master's degree in Informatics and Computing Engineering.
