Michael Phillippi

Chief Technology Officer at Wowza

Michael Phillippi has extensive work experience in the technology industry, with a particular focus on software engineering and management roles. Michael is currently working at Wowza as the Chief Technology Officer since October 2022. Before that, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at Canto from April 2021 to October 2022.

From 2016 to 2021, Phillippi worked at Lytx Inc. as the Vice President of Technology. In this role, they managed various departments, including software engineering, production operations, development operations, data analytics, IT, hardware, AI, and data science.

Prior to that, Phillippi worked as a Teacher at The LEAGUE of Amazing Programmers, teaching Java programming classes and mentoring students for Robotics competition from January 2015 to April 2016.

From 2005 to 2016, they held multiple positions at Mitchell International, including Senior Director of Software Engineering, Director of Software Engineering, and Software Development Manager. Michael managed product development teams, led software development process improvement initiatives, and implemented various engineering practices.

Earlier in their career, Phillippi worked at eFORCE as a Senior Technical Architect from 2000 to 2005, establishing a new office and leading Java and database development projects for clients such as Mazda, Volvo, and Nortel.

Michael also served as a Technical Architect at Cambridge Technology Partners from 1997 to 1999, leading the technical vision and delivery for large-scale data warehouse initiatives.

Additionally, Phillippi worked at Platinum Data Systems as a Senior Consultant from 1996 to 1997, participating in the creation of a Business Intelligence consultancy start-up company and developing solutions for clients like Staples and SGS Thomson.

Michael started their career at Sabre Holdings as a Senior Consultant from 1994 to 1996, where they participated and led the engineering team for the Sales and Marketing Executive Information System.

Phillippi began their professional journey at HP Enterprise Services as a Systems Engineer from 1990 to 1994. Michael completed the System Engineering Professional development program and led the development and installation of healthcare processing systems for clients such as Blue Shield of California and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

Michael Phillippi received their Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Economics and Decision Sciences from UC San Diego in the years 1985 to 1989. Additionally, they obtained a certification as an Oracle Certified Java Programmer from Oracle in January 2000.
