Saira Anwer

Saira Anwer is a seasoned TV News Reporter at WPLG, where coverage of breaking news in South Florida has been the focus since July 2018. Prior experience includes serving as the lead anchor for weekend evening newscasts at WMTV NBC 15, where a weekly travel segment titled "Road Trippin' with Saira" was developed from January 2016 to July 2018. Saira also worked as a reporter and anchor at KMOT for Gray Television, where the "Medical Minute" weekly segment was created and led. Prior to a career in journalism, Saira spent two years as an 8th Grade Language Arts Teacher with Teach For America. Earlier internships at WQAD-TV and WPSD Local 6 complemented Saira's practical experience. Saira earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012, following graduation from Galesburg High School in 2008.
