Angela Flowers

Angela Flowers has a diverse work experience. Angela is currently the Executive Director at Writers in the Schools since May 2021. Previously, from September 2019 to May 2021, they served as the Director of Alumni Leadership and Engagement at Teach For America. Their role involved developing strategies for engaging TFA alumni, school leaders, and administrators to achieve educational equity.

Before that, Angela worked as the Head of Curriculum and Instruction at St. Francis Episcopal Day School from September 2016 to September 2019. Prior to that, they were the Head of English Department at St. John's School from August 2003 to May 2016.

Earlier in their career, Angela was an English Teacher at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD from August 1999 to May 2003. Angela also held a teaching position at Jesse H Jones High School in HISD from August 1993 to May 1995. Additionally, they participated in the Teach For America Corps from June 1993 to May 1995.

Angela Flowers obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from Mount Holyoke College, where they studied from 1989 to 1993. Angela later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Columbia University, completing their studies from 2009 to 2011.
