Erika Jo Brown is an accomplished project manager and educator with extensive experience in creative writing and academic instruction. At the University of Houston since August 2014, Erika has promoted programmatic excellence in the Creative Writing Program while managing alumni relations. Erika has received recognition as a university-wide Teaching Excellence Award recipient and has taught various courses, including Poetry Workshop and Composition. Erika has directed the Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers, overseeing programming and community engagement. In addition to current roles with Writers in the Schools, Erika has held instructional and administrative positions at Savannah State University, Savannah College of Art and Design, the University of Iowa, American Craft Council, and Lotos Club. Erika holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa, a BA in English from Cornell University, and is pursuing a PhD in English at the University of Houston.
