Jocelyn Dorsey began their work experience in 1972 as a Reporter/Videographer for WKRC-TV. Jocelyn then joined WSB-TV in 1973, where they held multiple roles including Anchor-Reporter-Producer-Assignment Editor, and later became the Director of Editorials & Public Affairs. Jocelyn was the first African American newscast anchor on WSB-TV and covered various beats such as the Georgia Legislature, Fulton County & City of Atlanta Government, Courts, and State & Local School Boards.

Jocelyn Dorsey attended The Ohio State University from 1968 to 1972, where they studied at the School of Journalism. Jocelyn later pursued further education at Georgia State University in 1977, but no specific field of study is provided for this period.
