Marisa Ackhurst is a Technical Director at WSP, bringing over 20 years of experience in the management and design of marine and port structures. They authored the ICE design guide on vertical gravity sea and quay walls and have shared their expertise through guest lectures at the University of Stellenbosch. Marisa is a professionally registered engineer with ECSA since 2003 and earned a Commendation from SAICE for Professional Engineering Technologist of the Year in 2020. Their project experience spans across Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with notable projects including the Yas South IDR in Abu Dhabi and the Kwale Mineral Sands in Kenya. Marisa continues to enhance their skills, having recently completed the Aurecon Design Academy/RMIT programme.
