Tom Matthews, CBNE has extensive work experience in the broadcasting industry. Tom began their career as an Engineering Technician at WPLG in 1987 and stayed there until 2005. From there, they worked as a Satellite Services Coordinator and Satellite Uplink Technician at Miami News Net for a year. Tom then went on to become the President/CEO of RemoteOne Communications, Inc., where they maintained and operated a satellite truck for live network broadcasts for clients such as Fox News Channel, ABC, CBS, and CNN, among others. Tom held this position from 2006 to 2011.
Afterwards, Tom worked as a Freelance Satellite Uplink Operator abroad from 2011 to 2013. Tom then joined WFOR-TV/CBS 4 as a Digital Assets Supervisor for a few months before transitioning to CBS 4 as a Broadcast Engineer. In 2015, they joined WSOC-TV as a Broadcast Engineer, responsible for monitoring and maintaining on-air systems and transmitters. Currently, Tom is the Director of Engineering at WTOC-TV since 2019.
Tom Matthews, CBNE has a diverse education history. From 1989 to 1991, they attended ATI Technical Institute, where they obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Subsequently, from 1999 to 2001, they attended Barry University. Unfortunately, no information about the degree or field of study at Barry University is available. Additionally, Tom has obtained the Dante Certification from Audinate in April 2021.

WTOC-TV signed on the air February 14, 1954, the very first television station in Savannah, Georgia. WTOC has been a CBS affiliate from day one. It is the number one station in Savannah, not only in sign-on date, but in viewers and community involvement. WTOC televises and live streams a total of 6.6 hours of live local news daily, considerably more than any other local media outlet, and well above the expectation for a station in the 89th television market. Supporting that effort, WTOC's elevated "Sky Cams" bring area viewers unique live shots of weather conditions and our drones capture beautiful historic Savannah and the surrounding areas in all their glory. WTOC is committed to community involvement, televising far more Savannah and surrounding area community events annually than all of the other market stations combined.
