Kamaya Truitt-Martin

Kamaya Truitt-Martin has a strong background in media and education. Kamaya is currently serving as the Director of New Talent and Community Outreach at North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, where they are responsible for recruiting and supporting a diverse workforce and building connections with communities across the state. Prior to this role, Kamaya was the Director of the Youth Reporting program at the same organization, where they mentored and directed over 50 youth reporters in producing professional radio stories. Kamaya also implemented a mentorship program for interns, youth reporters, and producers. Kamaya has experience in the education sector as well, having worked as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher at Durham Public Schools and as a Group Manager in the ACES Afterschool Program. In their role at ACES, they developed enrichment programs, designed student-focused lessons, and organized activities to encourage parental involvement. Additionally, Kamaya previously served as the Youth Reporter Program Manager at North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC. Overall, they have a strong background in media, mentorship, and community engagement.

Kamaya Truitt-Martin completed their education from 2013 to 2017 at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. During this time, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
