Heidi C. Bloom

Heidi moved to Greensboro from New York in 1978 and has called North Carolina home since. Heidi received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 and her J.D. from Wake Forest School of Law in 1995. While at Wake Forest, Heidi was a member of the National Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Board, was a teacher’s assistant for Legal Research and Writing, and was elected to the Order of the Barristers. Following law school, Heidi served a two-year clerkship with Justice Willis P. Whichard of the North Carolina Supreme Court. After her clerkship, Heidi practiced with a law firm in Charlotte for two years. She joined Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP in 1999. Heidi’s practice is dedicated exclusively to family law and includes all aspects of domestic litigation as well as mediation and arbitration. Heidi is a North Carolina Board Certified Family Law Specialist and was a Certified Family Financial Mediator. She served as Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Council, is a past editor of the Family Law Forum, is a member and past chair of the Family Law CLE committee, and has been both a regular course planner and a speaker for a number of family law CLEs. She was part of an eleven-member committee that helped write the local rules of practice for Wake County Family Court, which were implemented in 2010; she sat on the Wake County Bar Association Grievance Committee and Board of Directors; and is now a State Bar Councilor for the 10th Judicial District. When not practicing law, Heidi enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, playing golf, and playing tennis.
