Brenton Piercy

Brenton Piercy has a diverse background in mechanical engineering and design, with experience in various industries and roles. Brenton'smost recent position is as a Hardware Engineer at X, the moonshot factory, starting in February 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Tinkerer/Artist/Fabricator for their own company, Self, from December 2005 to the present.

From February 2019 to February 2022, Brenton worked as a Lead Design Engineer at Otherlab, where they were responsible for ideation, design, build, and testing of a novel lower limb exoskeleton. Brenton also worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Saildrone Inc from February 2018 to February 2019, where they implemented new designs and mentored junior engineers.

Brenton has also held positions at Google, Meka Robotics, Ekso Bionics, BMH Robotics, and Missouri S&T. At these companies, they worked on developing mechatronic systems, designing robotic exoskeletons, and creating material handling and robotic automation systems. Brenton has experience in areas such as sensor payloads, actuation systems, composite tooling, and design for manufacture.

In addition, Brenton has experience as a shop manager, general handyman, and teaching assistant at Missouri S&T, where they performed repair work, taught manufacturing processes, and managed a student design and experiential learning center shop.

Brenton Piercy attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology from 2005 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2011, they briefly attended Oregon State University, but no degree or field of study is specified.
