Xa Nene is a women-led agritech and circular economy company transforming organic waste into sustainable, high-value products through Black Soldier Fly (BSF) biotechnology.

Based in Mozambique, we are pioneering the country's commercial BSF industry by converting organic by-products into premium insect protein, insect oil and organic fertiliser, creating sustainable alternatives for the animal feed and agriculture sectors while reducing waste sent to landfill.

Our mission is to build a more resilient food system by producing locally sourced, environmentally responsible ingredients that reduce dependence on imported feed proteins, strengthen food security and create economic opportunities for women and young people.

At Xa Nene, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Every tonne of organic waste we process contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions, improved resource efficiency and the development of a truly circular economy.

Our work supports multiple industries, including poultry, aquaculture, livestock farming and sustainable agriculture, while contributing to climate resilience and regenerative farming practices.

As an award-winning startup, Xa Nene has been recognised for its innovation and impact in sustainable agriculture and circular economy solutions. We actively collaborate with local and international partners to accelerate the adoption of insect biotechnology across Africa.
