Runpeng Chen

Runpeng Chen is a highly skilled technical professional with extensive experience in machine learning, software engineering, and front-end development. Currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at xAI since July 2025, Runpeng previously held the position of Tech Lead - Applied Machine Learning Engineer at ByteDance, where oversight of TikTok’s machine learning training infrastructure was a key responsibility. Notable prior roles include a Software Engineer at Google, where Runpeng contributed to TensorFlow Extended enhancements, and a Software Engineer in Test at Snap Inc., where development of stress test platforms and mobile app testing systems was achieved. Runpeng holds a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and System Biology from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Sun Yat-sen University.
