David Monllaó Olivé

David Monllaó Olivé has a diverse work experience across multiple companies. David is currently working as a Technical Lead at Xailient Inc. since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at BHP from 2020 to 2022, where they held the positions of Principal Data Engineer and Lead Data Scientist. In these roles, they were responsible for cloud data engineering, data operations, and devops, as well as leading the technical implementation of forecasting solutions and software products.

From 2012 to 2020, David worked at Moodle, initially as a Test Engineer, then as a Senior Software Engineer - Machine Learning, and finally as a Lead Data Scientist. Their responsibilities included leading analytics projects, developing machine learning solutions, and introducing machine learning in the Moodle LMS.

In addition, David has also served as a Google Summer of Code Mentor in both 2016 and 2019, and as a Google Summer of Code Student in 2011. David also worked as a Software Engineer at Universitat Rovira i Virgili from 2006 to 2012.

David Monllaó Olivé has a diverse educational background, with a focus on computer science and machine learning. David obtained a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Machine Learning from The University of Western Australia between 2016 and 2019. Prior to this, they completed a Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Computer Science - Software Engineering from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya from 2010 to 2012. David also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the same institution, which they completed between 2008 and 2010.

In addition to their academic achievements, David has obtained various certifications related to machine learning and software engineering. David is an AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty professional, having obtained this certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2022. David also holds the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification, which they obtained in November 2020. David has further enhanced their skills through certifications such as Spark for Machine Learning & AI from LinkedIn in October 2019 and various courses on Coursera, including Improving Deep Neural Networks, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Machine Learning, all obtained in 2017 and earlier.

David's educational journey also includes a background in psychology, as they studied Psychology at Universitat Rovira i Virgili from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, they completed a Systems Administration course in Computer Science at Institut Vidal i Barraquer from 2003 to 2005. These diverse educational experiences have likely contributed to David's multidisciplinary approach in their career.
