Matt Collins

Head of Low Temperature Devices at Xanadu

Matt Collins has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Matt is currently working at Xanadu as the Head of Low Temperature Devices, a position they have held since August 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Low Temperature Devices Team Lead at Xanadu from December 2019 to August 2022. Matt also worked as an Experimental Physicist at Xanadu from August 2018 to November 2019.

Before joining Xanadu, Matt worked at Macquarie University as a Macquarie Research Fellow from January 2017 to August 2018. Matt was also a Postdoctoral Researcher at Macquarie University from April 2016 to December 2016. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Pennsylvania State University from August 2015 to March 2016.

Matt's earlier work experience includes being a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sydney from October 2014 to July 2015. Matt also worked as a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney from February 2011 to September 2014. Additionally, Matt has experience as a Co-Founder at JobGPS, a startup company selected for the University of Sydney's Incubate program in 2013.

In 2007, Matt gained research experience as a Research Intern at the Space Robotics Laboratory.

Matt Collins completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics from the University of Sydney, starting in 2011 and finishing in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physics from the University of Sydney from 2005 to 2010. In 2007 and 2008, Matt participated in the JYPE (Japan and Youth Program in Engineering) program at Tohoku University, focusing on Engineering.
