Principal Photonic Design Engineer at Xanadu

Matteo Cherchi has an extensive work experience spanning several prestigious organizations. Matteo is currently employed at Xanadu as a Principal Photonic Design Engineer since March 2023. Before that, they worked at VTT as a Principal Scientist from June 2022 to March 2023 and as a Senior Scientist from October 2011 to June 2022.

Matteo also held the position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2011 and was a Research Associate at the Università degli studi di Palermo from July 2004 to October 2010. Prior to that, they worked as a Device Engineer at Pirelli Labs - Optical Innovation from March 2001 to June 2004 and as a Visiting Scientist at MIT from January 2002 to July 2002. Matteo began their career as a Research Scientist at CoreCom from April 1999 to February 2001.

From 1987 to 1992, Matteo Cherchi attended Liceo Scientifico (Secondary School) and obtained Maturità Scientifica.

From 1992 to 1997, they pursued their Master's degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at Università di Pavia.

Matteo then enrolled at the University of Cambridge in 1997 and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Elementary Particle Physics in 1998.

In the period from 2004 to 2008, Matteo Cherchi pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Photonics at Università degli Studi di Palermo.

In addition to their formal education, Matteo Cherchi obtained various certifications from LinkedIn.
